A castle, a story, a new experience
In the Netherlands, Château St. Gerlach is one of the country’s most iconic hotels. Part of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux collection, this historic castle called on Crossline Furniture to create 20 bespoke rooms, furnished entirely to measure.
Furnishing a castle is a balancing act: respecting the heritage and architecture of the building while offering guests the comfort and refinement of a contemporary hotel.
What we did
- Upholstered headboards: with striking shapes and richly coloured fabrics that give each room its personality.
- Chairs and armchairs: adding comfort and colour to the space.
- Wardrobes and bedside tables: in wood, designed to measure.
- Bathroom vanities: designed for the proportions of each room.
- Lighting: integrated into the concept of the rooms.
Colour and texture for comfort
The upholstered headboards are the focal point of each room. Striking shapes and richly coloured fabrics, such as mustard tones, contrast with the light walls and terracotta floor tiles, giving each space a personality of its own.
The armchairs and chairs extend that language with soft curves and comfortable upholstery, while the wooden wardrobes and bedside tables bring warmth and balance to the whole.
Twenty rooms, one standard
In a historic building, every room has its own proportions and particularities. That is why all the pieces were developed to measure, ensuring the same level of finish and the same aesthetic coherence across all 20 rooms, from design to installation.
Bespoke furniture in historic buildings
Working in a historic building means respecting its particularities: irregular walls, narrow access and proportions that follow no standard. Bespoke furniture meets these challenges with pieces designed for each space and prepared for careful installation.
It is also the way to ensure that contemporary comfort coexists with the history of the place instead of erasing it. At Crossline Furniture, carpentry and upholstery work together so that each room functions as a whole.
